WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!

Sequoia Day Camp is planned and run 100% by volunteers like you!!  Camp cannot happen without all our key adult volunteer spots being filled.  Please join us!

Volunteering at camp is a great way to start the summer!  Spend time with your daughter, and spend time helping your community make a positive impact on our girls.  It's a great way for your daughter to see people in her community coming together to make a great summer experience for HER!  We invite all parents to share this opportunity.  No experience is necessary, we promise!  Discounts and early registration are available depending on your level of help.
We have a great time at camp so don't miss out!  You can lead a station or come as a helper.  We hope to hear from you soon!

Check out the opportunities below, and email us at SequoiaDayCamp@gmail.com to let us know how you can help!

Volunteer discounts:
Camper discounts are earned by ADULT volunteers, and apply to 1 girl registration.  If you are registering your two daughters for camp and you plan to volunteer for the week, one girl goes for free and you pay the regular fee for the other.  The volunteer discount schedule is as follows for all age levels (campers and PAs).  Of course if you register two girls and you have two adult volunteers (spouse, grandparent) then they both go for free.
  • Station leader - 20% discount per volunteer day (see details below)
  • General Volunteer (assist with a station or other camp-related tasks) - 10% discount per volunteer day, minimum 2 days
  • 5-day Registration Tent (morning and afternoon) - 20% discount (see details below)
  • 5-day Morning Set-Up OR Afternoon Break-Down - 50% discount (see details below)
  • 5-day Set-Up AND Break-Down - FREE CAMP TUITION (see details below)
Volunteers from ANY SU will be given priority (early) registration starting March 18 based on the following:
      - Board Members
      - Station Leaders
      - Full week set-up AND break-down volunteers - must do BOTH
      - First Aid Tent - must work FULL WEEK
      - Registration Tent check in AND check out - must work FULL WEEK

Once we meet the required volunteers on a particular day or for a particular function, we will no longer be able to accept volunteers for those spots.  Want to volunteer but DON'T have a daughter attending camp?  We'd love to have you, too!  Just send us an email!

* Note, girls in Newbury Park Troops have priority over other campers when registration opens March 25.  Registration for girls from other SU will open about 2 weeks later, starting April 8th, with the exceptions listed above for priority (early) registration.

Training
Girl Scouts of California Central Coast requires that our volunteers receive day camp training.  All volunteers must attend a one-hour camp training session on Zoom on
May 7 at 10:00am OR May 21 at 8:00pm Our Girl Scout Council also requires that all adult volunteers are registered Girl Scouts, trained, and background checked for the benefit and safety of the girls.

VOLUNTEER SPECIFICS

Station Leaders

Station leaders are the heart of our camp! Work with our Program Director to come up with a station that fits our theme and you're excited about! Or, choose a station the committee has come up with that sounds fun. They'll make sure that you're comfortable with the station and it fits your schedule. Then, you'll be responsible for ordering supplies (in most cases), and running the station during camp (setting it up in the morning, and teaching the station to the campers as they rotate through). Depending on registration numbers, you may have an older girl scout (middle or high school age) at the station to help out, or to actually lead the station if she's comfortable with it. Station leaders are typically at least a two-day commitment, with a few exceptions. If you're new to this, we would still love to have you as a station leader, and we promise to help you through it all!
Benefits: 20% off one camp tuition for each volunteer day, plus early registration starting the week of March 18th!!

Station Helpers / General Volunteer

Stations are the heart of our camp! We have other adult volunteers to run the station as a station leader. However, sometimes we need extra adult hands to make sure our stations run smoothly and safely. As a station helper, you'll assist the station leader to help make the station run smoothly. Our camp Program Director will assign a station to you that you're comfortable with and fits your schedule. Station helpers are typically at least a two-day commitment, with a few exceptions. If you're new to this, we would love to have you as a volunteer. It's a great way to meet the Girl Scout community, and we promise to help you through it all!
Benefits: 10% off one camp tuition for each volunteer day.
