Leadership Opportunities
Girl Board
Although not an entirely new concept, the Girl Board is being revived. This is a Girl Scout camp that should be inspired by Girl Scouts.
Intent
- Collaborate and vote on all matters pertaining to camp. To include, but not limited to, choosing the camp mascot, camp theme, t-shirt colors, vendors, station activities, camp songs, Girl Board camp after party, cooking stations, voting for the camp patch, etc.
Eligibility
- Program Aides (PAs) and Leaders-in-Training (LITs). Currently there are no specific positions within the Girl Board, but we’re hoping as time goes the board will grow and we’ll have leadership positions, such as a President, Vice President, etc.
Requirements
- Girls wishing to participate, can dedicate as much or as little time as they’re able to. We understand that as girls get older, they become more involved in activities other than Girl Scouts, such as dance, music, sports, etc. They also have other responsibilities like family, faith, and school. So, expectations and limitations are thoroughly discussed prior to their participation. This opportunity should be stress free.
Benefits
-
Satisfies key requirements for both Peer and Teaching Leadership Awards, which require teamwork to develop and implement camp activities. See the Leadership Awards page for more information.
*For more information contact the 2026 Director at sequoiadaycamp@gmail.com.

Eligibility
- LITs typically are Girl Scouts entering 11th or 12th grade.
- There are 3-4 LITs assigned to oversee and lead PAs during camp.

- Mandatory Sequoia Day Camp PA training: June 17, 9:00am - 1:00pm

Benefits
- Satisfies key requirements for both Peer and Teaching Leadership Awards, which require teamwork to develop and implement camp activities. See the Leadership Awards page for more information.
*The LIT program has been replaced by the CIT program; however, the CIT program is still under review By GSCCC.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. My child is a PA and is volunteering for the week. Does that qualify us for early registration?
A. No. PAs are part of the program, just like our Daisies, Brownies and Juniors. Only adult station leaders qualify to register their daughters early. If your daughter is a PA and you are leading a station, you may register her early. The reason we give priority registration to station leader volunteers is simply because we can't operate camp without them.
Q. My daughter has already earned her PA award. Are there other programs she can work towards at camp?
A. Yes! See the requirements for GSUSA leadership awards.
Q. Why don’t the older girls who are volunteering go for free?
A. These girls are working on awards during camp. They are minors and we are still required to have adults at camp to supervise. They also participate in activities each day. We purchase supplies (art, tie dye, camp shirts and awards) for the girls and must cover those expenses. The older girls are still part of the girl program.
